The universe warns us

The universe warns us

I had been meaning to write a post with this idea for some time, but it always got stalled after a few lines.

And today I resume it with the belief that the universe is testing us. We have been causing imbalances for a long time with our way of doing things, of progressing... which, from my point of view, is ultimately seriously damaging the ecosystem. All of this is reflected in climate change, the number of disasters that have been happening lately: danas, earthquakes, hurricanes, erupting volcanoes... it seems the universe has been complaining for a while, and we are not paying much attention.

From my perspective, it was also warning us of another significant imbalance in human beings: people becoming more anxious, stressed, and depressed every day.

Never in history have we had so much: goods, opportunities, technology, resources at our fingertips... which has led to senseless consumerism, running around all day without really knowing why and for what.

I want to highlight people becoming more dissatisfied with their lives every day: work, productivity, doing more and more and better. And today I ask myself, for what?

Dissatisfied also in the personal realm, with partners, family, friends... because there is no time to dedicate to them, and the time spent is generally with little attention.

I believe the coronavirus wants to make us aware and lead us to stop, a very abrupt and unexpected halt, but one that makes us aware of what is truly important: health, family...

It seems it can help us recover conversations with our loved ones (as long as we don't let ourselves be bombarded by the news and WhatsApp, of course), to rediscover the phone, even the landline, to talk to friends we no longer called because there was no time, to connect with grandparents in a different way (not physically) but perhaps to be more attentive than ever to how they are and what they need (or at least I hope so).

Perhaps I am very wrong, but this is what I think and feel. I believe this is a great wake-up call from the universe for us to change the way we live, take care of ourselves, and care for everything around us.

Now we realize that we can live without toilet paper, that we can make a tasty meal with fewer ingredients, that we can work, although it may not be very efficient with children at home. We have regained the possibility to educate our children and not leave it solely in the hands of teachers and/or caregivers. And surely they will also appreciate it. At the same time, our children have regained parents they barely saw.

I am convinced that by organizing well, tasks can be shared with children, with partners, and today we can be more united than ever. It is true that this adaptation takes time.

This pause has reduced pollution in China, the water in the canals of Venice is cleaner... signs that make us think, at least for me, that perhaps we should change some habits.

In summary, the universe, through this pandemic, has stopped us in our tracks
